Malton is the hub of Ryedale's public transport services, with excellent bus and train links, courtesy of the A64 trunk road and the Trans-Pennine rail route, respectively. The Trans-Pennine rail link connects directly to the East Coast mainline in York and the train journey between Malton and London can take less than 2 hours 30 minutes.
For leisure enthusiasts, Ryedale is second to none, with virtually every sporting pursuit opportunity available. All of the towns are well represented with sports clubs. Pickering Town is a leading lower league football club, Malton and Old Malton's Cricket Club features in the premier division of the regional league and Malton and Norton Rugby Club was recently triumphant at Twickenham in the National Junior Clubs' Knock-Out Trophy.
